Steven Tyler
After a few years in the Boston club circuit, under the direction of their first manager Frank Connelly, the band began to work together with New York managers Steve Leber and David Krebs. The band signed a record contract in 1972, and then released their eponymous debut album in 1973. The album was later followed by Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic and Rocks. It brought Aerosmith global fame and recognition. These albums are the origin of famous hits such as "Dream on", Walk This Way, and "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's first five albums have also all gone multi-platinum, and Toys in the Attic and Rocks are considered to be among the top hard rock albums of all time. As the decade progressed, however, the band's busy schedule of touring, recording and living together began to wear them down. In their notorious use heroin and stimulants Tyler and Perry were often called the Toxic Twins. Aerosmith Behind the Music contains many videos that show their friendship. Tyler Perry, who was evidently more committed to the band, seemed to resent Perry's aloofness and envy Perry's focus on women in his life. The gradual decline of Aerosmith was most likely caused by the tension between Tyler and Perry and their once-friendly friends.
